The PowerEdge R730 fits in a 2U rack slot and ships with two eight-core Xeon E5-2630v3 processors at 2.4GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory occupy a small fraction of the 24 available DIMM slots. The H330 RAID controller manages the two installed 300GB 15K SAS drives and can address up to 64TB across eight hot-plug bays.

Sustained multi-threaded throughput

Dual 750W hot-swap power supplies keep the platform running during a module failure. The Xeon pair delivers 32 logical threads for continuous hypervisor or database tasks without the thermal throttling seen in smaller chassis. PCIe 3.0 lanes remain available for additional NICs or accelerator cards while the PERC slot stays dedicated to storage.

Hot-plug bays and remote management for daily ops

Eight 3.5-inch drive bays accept SAS or SATA media and eject without tools, letting technicians swap disks while the server stays online. The iDRAC8 Express module provides out-of-band console access, firmware updates and power cycling over a dedicated network port. Four onboard 1GbE ports handle production traffic, with optional 10GbE daughter cards for higher throughput.
