The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack system equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. It delivers 44 total cores and 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules. The Dell PERC H730 controller manages eight 800 GB SATA SSDs with support for RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.

Suits heavy multi-thread workloads

This configuration targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce platforms, virtual desktop infrastructure or high-performance computing data nodes. Quad-port networking provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections. Buyers who need more than 1.5 TB of memory or more than two processor sockets should look at a different platform.

24 DIMM slots define the memory ceiling

The server populates eight of 24 available DDR4 slots, leaving room to reach the 1.5 TB maximum capacity with larger modules. LGA 2011-3 sockets are already filled by the two installed CPUs, so processor upgrades are not possible. The 2.5-inch drive bays and PERC H730 controller limit storage expansion to SATA or SAS devices.
