2U rack server with dual redundant power

The Dell PowerEdge R730 fits a standard 2U rack space and ships with two 750W hot-swap power supplies for continuous uptime. It targets IT teams needing a dense compute platform for virtualization, database or application workloads. A single Xeon E5-2630v3 processor delivers eight cores at 2.4GHz with hyper-threading for 16 logical threads. The system includes 64GB of DDR4 memory across 24 DIMM slots.

Sustained load on eight cores

Under continuous demand the eight-core CPU maintains its 2.4GHz base frequency while the H330 RAID controller manages two 10K RPM SAS drives in RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 or 60. Redundant power supplies share the load so a single unit failure does not interrupt processing. Four onboard 1GbE ports handle steady network traffic without saturating the PCIe 3.0 lanes reserved for expansion cards.

Tool-less drive trays and iDRAC8 remote management

Eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives with included trays, allowing drive swaps without shutting down. The chassis provides up to seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot for additional controllers or NICs. iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller gives out-of-band access for firmware updates, power cycling and hardware monitoring from any browser. A DVD-ROM drive remains available for legacy media installation.
