The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built for virtualisation clusters and database workloads. It arrives with a single Xeon E5-2640 v4 processor running at 2.4GHz and 384GB of DDR4 ECC memory. The 8 LFF chassis accepts up to eight 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives. Capacity and headroom

The installed 384GB of DDR4 memory leaves 384GB of headroom before the 768GB maximum. A single 10-core CPU occupies one of two sockets so a second processor can be added for heavier compute loads. The PERC H730 SAS controller manages RAID across all eight drive bays. Storage capacity depends entirely on the drives you install.

Build and connectivity

Dual 495W power supplies provide redundancy in a 36 x 24 x 10 inch form factor weighing 40 pounds. Network connectivity includes two 10GbE ports and two 1GbE ports via Intel I350 and X540 adapters.
