The Dell PowerEdge R730xd 12LFF chassis holds twelve 3.5-inch drive bays in a 2U rack form factor. Dual Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors deliver forty-four cores at 2.2 GHz with 55 MB cache per socket. Installed memory reaches 768 GB DDR4 ECC registered, matching the platform maximum.

Thermals and power

Two 1100 W redundant supplies share the load across the processors, memory and drive backplane. Integrated iDRAC8 Enterprise enables remote sensor monitoring and fan-speed control without a local console. The PERC H730 SAS controller manages RAID across SATA drives while offloading parity calculations from the CPUs.

Bundled controller and networking

The PERC H730 RAID controller provides hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with battery-backed cache.
