The Dell PowerEdge R730xd fits 24 small-form-factor drives in a 2U chassis. Dual Xeon E5-2603 v3 processors run at 1.6 GHz with six cores each. 384 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory is installed, leaving room to reach the 768 GB maximum. The PERC H730 SAS controller manages RAID across SATA drives. Integrated graphics and iDRAC8 Enterprise provide remote console access.

The H730 RAID controller supports SAS and SATA drives with hardware RAID levels. A dual-port Intel X540 10 GbE adapter plus two 1 GbE ports handle high-throughput network traffic.
