The Dell PowerEdge R730XD is a 2U rack server built for storage-dense workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3GHz and 128GB of DDR4 memory installed across 24 DIMM slots. The system supports a second processor for doubled compute capacity.

Hot-plug drive bays and redundant power

Twelve 3.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives without tools or downtime. Two 750W redundant power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails. A DVD-ROM drive and iDRAC8 remote management are included for local media and out-of-band administration.

H730 RAID controller with 1GB cache

The Perc H730 controller provides 12Gbps throughput and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. It occupies a dedicated slot leaving up to six PCIe 3.0 slots free for additional networking or acceleration cards. Maximum raw capacity reaches 52TB with 12 drives installed.
