The Dell PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server built for dense storage and compute. Two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v3 processors deliver 28 total cores at 2.0 GHz with 3.0 GHz turbo. It targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, VDI, databases or HPC data nodes.

Thermals and Power Draw

Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power. The 2U chassis uses forced-air cooling across the CPUs, memory and twelve drive bays. Under typical mixed workloads the system draws well within the redundant supply capacity while keeping fan noise at rack-appropriate levels.

Build and Connectivity

Twelve 3.5-inch bays hold 8 TB 7.2 K SATA drives behind the PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache and battery backup. A quad-port daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links. iDRAC8 Enterprise gives full out-of-band management. Ready rails and a front bezel are included for immediate rack mounting.
