The Dell PowerEdge R730xd fits in a 2U rack space and ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v3 processors, each running at 2.3 GHz with 18 cores. It includes 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules. The system targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, virtual desktop infrastructure, databases or high-performance computing nodes.

Check rack space, drive inventory

The chassis provides 24 front-accessible 2.5-inch trays for SATA or SAS drives, but no drives are installed. Verify that your rack can accept a 2U unit and that you have compatible drives ready. Two redundant 750 W power supplies require matching PDU connections. The X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports, so confirm SFP+ modules and cabling are available.
