The unit ships with no hard drives and no drive trays. You must supply up to 24 x 2.5" hot-plug SAS or SATA drives and the matching caddies yourself.

The spec lists 128 GB installed and a 1536 GB maximum — which capacity should I choose if I need room to grow later?

The 128 GB already fills the 24 DIMM slots at the processor's supported speed. To exceed 128 GB you must replace modules, so select the final capacity you need at purchase.
