Tool-less rails and hot-swap trays

Ready Rails slide into standard square-hole racks without screws, and each 1.2 TB SAS drive sits in a hot-swap carrier that can be replaced while the system runs. The PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache must be configured before the array becomes visible to the OS; skipping that step is the most common reason drives appear missing on first boot.

12 Gb/s SAS backplane ceiling

All 24 bays share a 12 Gb/s SAS backplane, so aggregate throughput caps at the controller and expander limits rather than per-drive speed. The two 10 Gb SFP+ ports on the X520 daughter card provide uplink bandwidth, but the 1 GbE pair cannot exceed its line rate.
