It delivers 24 drive bays in a compact chassis, making it suitable for environments where storage density matters more than GPU expansion.

Upgrade from Smaller Arrays or Older Controllers

This system replaces direct-attached storage shelves or servers limited to eight or twelve bays by fitting 24 SAS drives behind a single PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache. The jump is worth it when workloads need hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60 across many spindles and the 12 Gb/s SAS backplane can feed both CPUs without a separate HBA.

Tool-Less Rails and iDRAC Simplify Deployment

Ready Rails let technicians slide the chassis into a standard rack without screws, while iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides out-of-band management for BIOS updates, power cycling and console redirection. Common issues include forgetting to initialise the virtual disks in the H730 BIOS before the OS installer runs and overlooking the SFP+ modules required for the 10 GbE ports.
