Dual 14-core Xeon server for data-intensive

This 2U rack server ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors running at 2.4 GHz with 3.3 GHz turbo. Fourteen cores per socket give 28 threads total for parallel workloads. The system targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, virtual desktop infrastructure, databases or high-performance computing nodes.

Verify rack space, power and drive population

The chassis occupies 2U of rack height and needs front-to-rear airflow. Two hot-swap 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundancy. Twenty-four 2.5-inch trays accept SAS or SATA drives; no drives are installed. Memory uses DDR4 registered ECC modules across 24 slots; maximum capacity is 1.5 TB.

Sustained throughput from dual 10 GbE

Dual 10 Gb SFP+ ports on the X520/I350 daughter card maintain bandwidth during long transfers. The PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache and battery backs RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for continuous write performance. iDRAC8 Enterprise allows remote monitoring without interrupting the host.
