The PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server built for midsize and large enterprise workloads. Two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v3 processors run at 2.0 GHz with 14 cores each. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 24 slots. Twelve 3.5-inch drive bays hold 6 TB SATA hard drives managed by a PERC H730 controller.

Suited for dense storage and virtualization

This configuration fits data-warehouse, VDI and database nodes that need high internal capacity in a 2U form factor. The quad-port network daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links. Buyers who need flash-only storage or GPU compute density should evaluate other platforms.
