The Dell PowerEdge R730XD is a 2U rack-mount server built for storage-dense workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor at 1.9 GHz and 48 GB of DDR4 memory. The system supports up to two processors and 24 DIMM slots for future expansion. It targets IT teams needing high-capacity internal storage in a compact rack footprint.

12-bay SAS storage with H330 RAID

Twelve 3.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives; three 4 TB 7.2K SAS drives are installed. The Perc H330 controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across a 12 Gbps interface. Maximum raw capacity reaches 52 TB when all bays are populated. Memory ceiling is 48 GB with the current single-processor configuration; adding a second CPU unlocks the full 1536 GB limit.

Redundant power, iDRAC8, DVD, four 1 GbE

Dual 750 W hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy. Remote management runs on iDRAC8 Express with Lifecycle Controller, upgradeable to Enterprise and vFlash media. A DVD-ROM drive is fitted for legacy media. Networking defaults to a four-port 1 GbE daughter card; 10 GbE NDC options are available separately. Six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID slot remain open for additional I/O cards.
