It delivers 256 GB of DDR4 ECC memory and a PERC H730 controller with battery-backed cache for mixed read-write workloads. Quad-port networking adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links for flexible fabric connectivity. iDRAC8 Enterprise provides full out-of-band management for remote sites.

This system replaces direct-attached shelves or older 2U servers that max out at eight bays and lack hardware RAID 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60 support. SATA Throughput And Bay Count Limits

Twelve 7.2 K SATA drives share a 12 Gb/s SAS backplane, so sustained sequential bandwidth tops out at the drive media rate rather than the controller link. Random IOPS scale with spindle count, not flash latency, so latency-sensitive databases may need a different tier. The 24 DIMM slots support registered ECC DDR4 only; unbuffered or newer memory generations are not compatible.
