The PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with 16 cores. It targets organisations that need dense compute for virtualisation, databases or high-performance workloads in a standard rack footprint.

64 GB DDR4 With 3 TB Ceiling

The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across four modules, leaving 20 open slots for expansion up to the 3 TB maximum. The PERC H730P controller manages two 800 GB SATA SSDs and supports additional 2.5-inch drives in the eight-bay chassis, with RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 available.

Redundant Power And Remote Management

Dual 750 W platinum power supplies provide hot-swap redundancy, while iDRAC 9 Enterprise gives full out-of-band control over hardware health and firmware updates. A quad-port network daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections, and the included sliding rails with front bezel simplify rack installation.
