It targets organisations that need high core counts for virtualisation, database or high-performance computing tasks. Buyers who require a single-socket platform or a tower form factor should look elsewhere.

Installation uses tool-less rails

Ready Rails and a front bezel are included for quick rack mounting. The eight 2.5-inch drive bays support hot-swap SATA SSDs, and the two 750 W power supplies are hot-swappable for redundancy. iDRAC 9 Enterprise provides remote management so firmware updates and hardware monitoring can be done without physical access. The main risk is exceeding the 24 DIMM slot limit when expanding memory beyond the installed 128 GB.

The system arrives with eight 16 GB registered ECC DDR4 modules at 2666 MHz, occupying eight of the 24 available slots. Maximum supported capacity is 3 TB when all slots are populated with compatible RDIMMs or LRDIMMs. Memory must be DDR4; other generations will not fit or function.
