Expansion-Ready 2U Platform

Eight PCIe Gen 3 slots and an Intel X550 adapter with two 10 Gb and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports give ample room for additional networking or acceleration cards. The eight-bay 2.5" chassis is fully populated, so buyers needing more internal drives must look at external storage arrays or a larger chassis. No optical drive is fitted.

The R740 chassis accepts a maximum of eight 2.5-inch drives and all bays are occupied by the installed 800 GB SAS SSDs. Any workload that requires more internal spindles or solid-state devices will need a different server platform or attached enclosure.
