The Dell PowerEdge R740xd2 is a 2U rackmount server built for storage-dense deployments. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6150 processors and 512 GB of DDR4-2666 ECC memory across 16 populated slots. The chassis provides 26 front-accessible 3.5-inch drive trays for SAS or SATA media. Remote management is handled by iDRAC 9 Enterprise.

512 GB DDR4 with Room to 1 TB

Installed memory totals 512 GB using 16 dual-inline modules, leaving no empty slots in the standard configuration. The platform supports a maximum of 1 TB, so expansion requires replacing existing DIMMs. The PERC H730P controller manages RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with a 2 GB cache and battery backup. No drives are included, so capacity starts at zero.

Dual 1100 W Platinum Power Supplies

Redundant hot-swap 1100 W platinum-efficiency units share the load and allow one to fail without downtime.
