The Dell PowerEdge R760 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8468 processors running at 2.1 GHz with 3.8 GHz turbo. It ships with 768 GB of DDR5-4800 ECC registered memory across 24 modules. Four 960 GB SATA SSDs and a PERC H965i controller with 8 GB NV cache provide the initial storage foundation.

Tool-less rails and hot-swap bays

Ready Rails and a front bezel are included for rack mounting without tools. Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays allow drive changes while the system runs. The PERC H965i supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60; mixing SAS, SATA and NVMe drives in the same array is not supported by this controller.

DDR5-4800 ceiling and PCIe Gen5 lanes

Memory tops out at 8 TB across 32 DDR5 slots, so the installed 768 GB leaves room to grow. PCI Express Gen5 expansion slots deliver high bandwidth for accelerators or networking cards. The OCP 3.0 slot used by the quad-port 1 GbE adapter cannot host a second OCP card simultaneously.
