The Dell PowerEdge R930 packs four Intel Xeon E7-8890 v4 processors, each running at 2.2 GHz with 24 cores, into a 4U rack chassis. That yields 96 cores and 3 TB of DDR4-2400 registered ECC memory installed across 96 slots, ready for in-memory databases or heavy virtualization.

Sustained multi-core throughput

Under continuous load the four CPUs can reach 3.4 GHz turbo while the PERC H730P controller manages up to 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60. Four 1 100 W 80 Plus Platinum supplies share the load, and the iDRAC 8 Enterprise module provides remote monitoring without agent software.

Pre-deployment checklist

Verify your rack can accept a 4U unit and that the included ready rails match the mounting holes.
