Enterprise 5U tower server

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualisation, database hosting, file storage and backup workloads. Two Intel Xeon Silver 4110 processors run at 2.1 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency, providing sixteen cores for multi-threaded applications. The system ships with 32 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four modules. No drives are installed.

Storage controller and expansion

A Dell PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across SAS and SATA drives. The chassis provides sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays, though only eight drive trays are included. Dual integrated Gigabit Ethernet ports handle network connectivity, and iDRAC 9 Express enables remote management. PCIe slots remain available for additional RAID, networking or GPU cards. An optional rack conversion kit allows deployment in a standard rack.

Sustained operation and power

Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in redundant hot-swap mode to maintain uptime during extended loads. The Xeon Scalable architecture supports consistent throughput for virtualisation platforms such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V and Proxmox VE. ECC memory and the battery-backed controller protect data integrity during long-running database or SDS tasks. Buyers needing more than eight trays or front bezel and rail kits must source those separately.
