The PowerEdge T440 delivers two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors, each with 12 cores at 2.3 GHz and a 3.2 GHz turbo. This 5U tower server targets virtualization hosts, database nodes and private-cloud infrastructure that need strong multi-threaded performance in a single chassis.

256 GB DDR4 and four 960 GB SSDs

Installed memory reaches 256 GB through eight 32 GB DDR4-2400 ECC registered modules, leaving eight slots open toward the 1 TB ceiling. Four enterprise 960 GB SATA SSDs sit behind the PERC H330 controller, providing fast read throughput for boot, logs and active data sets while twelve 2.5-inch bays remain free for expansion.

PERC H330 and 1 GbE limits

The H330 handles SAS and SATA at 12 Gb/s but offers no hardware RAID 5 or 6, so parity arrays consume CPU cycles. Dual onboard 1 GbE ports restrict network throughput to gigabit speeds unless additional NICs are added through the PCIe slots.
