It ships new with a caddy for direct installation in compatible bays. The 12Gb/s interface suits workloads that need consistent throughput in supported chassis.

SAS 12Gb/s interface practical limits

The 12Gb/s SAS link provides high bandwidth but actual throughput depends on the backplane, controller and cable quality in the host server. Mechanical 10000RPM latency and sustained transfer rates will bound random IOPS more than the interface ceiling. The drive cannot exceed the speed of the slowest component in the storage path.

Caddy included for hot-swap bays
