This USB 3.0 to SATA IDE adapter connects any standard 2.5in or 3.5in SATA or IDE hard drive to a computer through an available USB 3.0 port. It also supports optical drives such as DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW. The device works with Windows 10, 8, 8.1, 7, Vista, XP, Mac OS, Linux, and Chrome OS.

Replacing Internal Drive Bays

The adapter replaces the need for spare internal drive bays or a dedicated docking station when accessing legacy IDE drives or SATA drives externally. The jump is worth it when you need to retrieve data from older 40-pin or 44-pin IDE hard disks without installing them inside a chassis. A 12V DC power supply is included for 3.5in devices.
