Seven USB 3.0 ports from one PCIe slot

This ESTONE expansion card adds seven USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a desktop PC through a single PCI Express x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot. It targets builders who need more front-panel connections for external drives, printers, scanners or webcams. The card works with Windows XP through Windows 11 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Mac OS 10.8.2 or later. A driver download or the supplied CD is required for Windows 7 and 8; Windows 10 and 11 install automatically.

Bandwidth shared across three-port groups

The PCIe 2.0 x1 link caps total throughput at 5.0 Gbps, and the seven ports are grouped so that every three ports share that bandwidth. Heavy simultaneous transfers on multiple ports will therefore run slower than the single-port maximum. The card draws all power from the slot itself — no auxiliary power connector is needed — but the slot can only supply limited current, so very power-hungry devices may still require their own adapters. Backward compatibility with USB 2.0 and 1.x devices is maintained.

Independent port power and solid capacitors

Each USB port has its own solid capacitor and a two-phase power module that delivers up to 5 V / 2 A per port, reducing voltage droop when several devices are plugged in. The NEC 720201 and 720210 controllers handle the USB 3.0 protocol. The low-profile bracket measures 4.92 x 4.06 x 1.06 inches and fits standard full-height cases; installation screws are included. The card is not compatible with PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 consoles.
