Compact M.2 NVMe adapter for tight builds

The GLOTRENDS PA05-HS converts a PCIe X4, X8 or X16 slot into an M.2 Key M socket supporting 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 NVMe drives. It operates at PCIe 4.0, 3.0, 2.0 and 1.0 speeds without a mounting bracket, making it suitable for compact cases or 2U high cases where horizontal motherboard layouts are used.

Heatsink and bracket-free design changes thermals

An included 22x70x3 mm aluminum heatsink lowers drive temperatures by 5 to 20 °C during sustained workloads. Removing the bracket saves vertical clearance for low-profile chassis but means the card relies solely on the slot for retention; on vertically mounted motherboards the combined weight of adapter and SSD can cause the assembly to tilt.

Simple installation with OS caveats

The adapter is plug-and-play on Windows 11, 10, 8, Linux and Mac OS, though Windows 7 is not supported and a new NVMe drive must be initialized and formatted before the operating system recognises it. Booting from the NVMe drive requires a clean OS reinstall on a GPT partition and UEFI boot configuration; some older motherboards cannot boot from this device at all.
