The RocketRAID 642L is a low-profile PCIe 2.0 x4 host adapter that adds four SATA 6.0Gb/s ports to a PC or Mac. Two connectors are internal and two are external eSATA, so drives can sit inside the chassis or in an external enclosure. The onboard Marvell 88SE9235 controller handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and JBOD without using host CPU cycles. A port-multiplier function lets the card address up to 20 SATA devices in total.
