The HP 17 is a 17.3 inch Windows 11 Home notebook built around an Intel N100 processor running at up to 3.4 GHz with four cores and 6 MB cache. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD. The TN panel delivers a 1600 x 900 resolution at 60 Hz and supports touch input. Connectivity includes WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, plus two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one USB 3.1 Type-C port, HDMI and a combo audio jack.

Sustained workload behaviour

The N100 is a low-power chip with a modest 6 W base power envelope, so clocks settle well below the 3.4 GHz burst frequency during long tasks. Expect consistent performance for web browsing, document editing and video playback, but multi-threaded workloads such as code compilation or large spreadsheet recalculations will run slower than on higher-wattage mobile processors. The 8 GB soldered memory cannot be expanded, limiting the number of heavy applications that can stay resident simultaneously.

Thermals noise and power

A 45 W adapter charges the 41 Wh three-cell battery, which provides several hours of typical mixed use. The fanless or single-fan thermal solution keeps the chassis surface warm but not hot during ordinary productivity work, and acoustic output stays low in a quiet room. Under continuous load the fan becomes audible but remains within normal office background levels. The 4.7 lb weight and 0.9 inch profile make it portable for a 17 inch device.
