The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14.0" business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor running at 1.70 GHz with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and Intel UHD Graphics 620 using shared system memory. The non-touch FHD display delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution with LED backlight.

Ports and power to verify

Check that your existing USB-C charger or dock supports Thunderbolt 3 over the single Type-C port, as this is the only Thunderbolt connection on the chassis. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports provide legacy peripheral support. Gigabit Ethernet uses a standard RJ-45 jack, and video output relies on one HDMI port. Wireless connectivity comes from the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 module.

Silver chassis with integrated graphics

The silver aluminium chassis houses a 14" LED-backlit panel and a 720p webcam above the screen. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the internal display and external monitors through HDMI or the Thunderbolt 3 port without a discrete GPU. The 1 TB NVMe SSD is mounted in an M.2 slot inside the chassis. A 65 W USB-C power adapter and battery are included in the box.
