Suits single-socket workloads needing ECC memory

The system fits buyers who need a compact rack server with hardware redundancy and ECC DDR4 memory for virtualisation, file serving or light database tasks. It is not suited to workloads that require dual processors from day one, SAS-attached storage, or a hardware RAID controller with cache and battery backup. The eight 2.5-inch bays and 16 DIMM slots provide internal headroom, but the installed CPU and memory already reach the listed maximums for this configuration.

B140i software RAID limited to SATA drives

The onboard B140i controller manages only the SATA drives installed in the eight small-form-factor bays, offering RAID levels 0, 1 and 5 without a dedicated cache module. If the deployment demands SAS connectivity, hardware RAID acceleration or support for non-SATA media, a different controller must be sourced separately.
