The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 is a 1U rack-mount server built for space-constrained environments. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 six-core processor running at 2.4 GHz and 8 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. Dual 1.8 TB 7.2K SAS drives connect through an HP Smart HBA H240ar controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Redundant hot-swap 500 W power supplies are included.

Suited for virtualisation hosts

This configuration fits teams running hypervisors or databases that benefit from hardware RAID and redundant power in a single rack unit. Buyers who need more than eight small-form-factor drive bays or who require a second processor installed from the factory should look at a different configuration. The eight installed SFF bays limit internal storage expansion without adding the optional universal media bay or extra drive cages. Workloads demanding GPU acceleration will not be served by the integrated Matrox G200 graphics.

Single E5-2620 v3 processor limits memory capacity

With only one CPU populated the server can use 12 of the 24 DDR4 slots, capping installed memory at 8 GB against a dual-processor maximum of 3 TB. Adding a second compatible Xeon E5 v3 or v4 processor unlocks the remaining slots and doubles the core count to a potential 12 cores and 24 threads. The H240ar controller provides 12 Gbps SAS and 6 Gbps SATA connectivity for the existing 1.8 TB drives or future storage upgrades.
