Workload fit and limits

This server suits environments that need dense compute in a single rack unit with redundant power and SATA software RAID. Buyers who require hardware RAID acceleration or SAS RAID connectivity should look elsewhere because the B140i is a SATA-only software RAID implementation. The Matrox G200 graphics with 16 MB video memory is intended for management console output only, not for graphical workloads. No operating system is included, so the buyer must supply one.

The B140i controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 across SATA drives only, so the choice of this server hinges on whether software RAID on SATA meets the storage resilience plan.
