Two 500 GB 7.2K SATA drives and dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies complete the base configuration for immediate deployment.

Suits single-socket density.

The system supports up to two processors and 3 TB of total memory, making it a fit for virtualisation hosts or database nodes that start small and scale later. Buyers who need hardware RAID acceleration for SAS drives should look elsewhere, as the onboard B140i controller handles SATA RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 only. The eight 2.5-inch bays accept SATA media, so environments requiring SAS connectivity will need an additional controller.

The storage controller defines what drive types and RAID levels are possible without extra hardware. It manages the two included 500 GB SATA drives and any additional SATA SSDs or HDDs in the remaining bays, but it does not support SAS devices. If the workload demands hardware RAID or SAS throughput, a separate controller card must be added to the available expansion slots.
