Dual 600GB 15K SAS drives connect through a Smart HBA H240ar controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Two 500W redundant hot-swap power supplies keep the platform running in space-limited racks.

Upgrade from tower or older 2U systems

This unit replaces larger chassis that waste rack units while adding 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA connectivity the H240ar provides. The jump is worth it when you need up to 36 total cores with a second processor and up to 3TB of DDR4 across 24 slots, but the installed CPU caps memory speed at 2400MT/s and the 8-bay SFF cage limits raw capacity compared to LFF alternatives.

Slide-in rack install with cabled drive trays

The 1U rail kit mounts in standard posts and the hot-swap bays accept the included 2.5-inch SAS trays without tools. Common issues: the H240ar operates in HBA mode unless a separate Smart Array licence is applied, the single CPU leaves 12 DIMM slots and the second processor socket empty, and the Matrox G200 graphics only serves basic console output. No operating system ships with the server.
