The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 processor with twelve cores at 2.3 GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 memory into a 1U chassis. It targets workloads that need dense compute in limited rack space such as virtualisation hosts, database nodes or high-performance computing clusters.

Memory ceiling and storage throughput

The board provides 24 DIMM slots yet the processor caps addressable memory at 64 GB, so the installed capacity already reaches the practical limit. Two 300 GB 15 K SAS drives deliver low-latency sequential I/O through the H240ar controller which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across four 3.5-inch bays.

Single-socket constraint

Only one CPU is populated and the system ships with a single Xeon E5-2670 v3, leaving the second socket empty. Buyers who need more than twelve physical cores or greater memory bandwidth must add a second compatible processor themselves.

The server uses the Smart HBA H240ar controller which supports 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA. Your existing 3.5-inch SAS drives will connect directly to the four LFF bays using the included trays.

How can I confirm the H240ar RAID controller and both 500W power supplies are operating correctly after installation?

During POST the H240ar BIOS will display the controller firmware version and detect the two 300GB 15K SAS drives. iLO will show both 500W redundant power supplies as present and healthy with green LEDs on the rear.

Which components ship inside the 1U chassis and what must I purchase separately to reach the 24 DIMM slot or four-bay capacity?

The box contains the 1U chassis, one E5-2670 v3 processor, 64GB DDR4 ECC Registered memory, two 300GB 15K 3.5-inch SAS drives with trays, the H240ar RAID controller, two 500W redundant power supplies, and the Matrox G200 GPU.
