Virtualisation hosts and storage-heavy workloads

The eight physical cores with hyper-threading suit virtualisation hosts, database nodes and file-serving roles that fit in one rack unit. Buyers who need more than one processor, more than 32 GB of memory today, or more than two drive bays filled should look at a larger chassis or a dual-socket configuration. GPU-accelerated workloads are not supported beyond the basic Matrox G200 output.

Single-socket 32 GB memory ceiling

With only one CPU installed, the server can address a maximum of 32 GB across its 24 DIMM slots, so the installed 32 GB already reaches the single-processor limit. Adding a second processor would be required to unlock the full 3 TB capacity and the remaining memory channels.
