A single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 twelve-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed. Two 1 TB 7.2K SAS drives and an H240ar controller supporting RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 provide the initial storage foundation.

Suits virtualisation hosts needing room to grow

The chassis holds four LFF drive bays and twenty-four DDR4 DIMM slots, so memory can scale to the platform maximum of 3 TB and storage can expand within the bay count. A second processor socket is empty, allowing a doubling of core count later. Buyers who need more than four 3.5-inch drive bays or who require a GPU beyond the integrated Matrox G200 should look elsewhere.

Single-socket starting point

Only one of the two supported processors is populated, leaving the second socket available for a compatible Xeon E5 v3 or v4 upgrade. This single specification determines whether the server meets immediate compute demands or needs the second CPU added at purchase.
