The server uses 24 SFF bays for 2.5-inch SAS drives and the Smart Array P440 controller supports 12 Gb/s and 6 Gb/s SAS speeds, so it will connect to a compatible SAS backplane.

How can I verify the P440 controller and FBWC are operating correctly after installation?

During POST the controller BIOS reports the 4 GB FBWC module status and battery health; you can also check the cache state in the Smart Storage Administrator utility once the OS loads.

What drives, memory and rails are included versus what I must buy separately?

The box contains the 2U chassis, one E5-2630 v3 processor, 8 GB DDR4 RDIMM, two 146 GB 15K SAS drives with trays, the P440/4 GB FBWC controller and two 500 W redundant power supplies; additional DDR4 modules, extra drives and rack rails are not included.
