Rack server for data-centre workloads

The HP ProLiant DL380 G9 is a 2U rack server built for data-centre workloads. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670v3 twelve-core processor at 2.3GHz and 48GB of DDR4 ECC memory. Redundant hot-swap 500W power supplies keep the platform running during module replacement. The chassis supports up to two processors and 3TB total memory capacity.

Eight SFF bays with H240ar controller

Eight 2.5-inch SFF drive bays provide internal storage density, populated here with two 1TB 7.2K SAS drives. The Smart HBA H240ar controller handles 12Gb SAS and 6Gb SATA with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Additional bay kits can expand the chassis to sixteen or twenty-four SFF bays, or add NVME and media options in specific slots. Trays are included with drives.

Upgrade path from smaller rack units

This server replaces single-socket 1U units when core count, memory ceiling or drive bay count become limiting factors. The jump is worth it when workloads need more than twelve cores per socket, more than 48GB DDR4 per processor, or more than eight hot-swap bays. Buyers who need GPU acceleration or single-thread frequency above 2.3GHz should look elsewhere.
