This 2U rack server ships with dual Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 processors, each offering six cores at 1.9GHz, plus 32GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. It targets IT teams needing dense compute in a standard rack footprint for virtualization, database or file-serving workloads. The 16 small-form-factor bays accept 2.5-inch SAS drives and are populated with two 1TB 7.2K units. A Smart Array P440 controller with 4GB flash-backed write cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.

Build integration: redundant power

Dual hot-swap 500W power supplies provide N+N redundancy without occupying extra rack units. The Intel C610 chipset exposes 24 DIMM slots, 12 per processor, allowing memory growth up to the platform maximum. An open universal media bay slot and an optional second 8-bay cage can extend raw capacity to 24 drives. No operating system is included, so the installer chooses the hypervisor or OS that matches the environment.

Sustained-load behaviour: flash-backed cache

The P440’s 4GB FBWC preserves write ordering during unexpected power loss, keeping RAID rebuilds consistent under heavy I/O. Redundant fans and the 2U airflow design maintain stable inlet temperatures during continuous multi-threaded workloads across all 12 cores. Memory runs at speeds supported by the installed v3 processors, avoiding down-clock surprises during long-running jobs.
