Fan speeds adjust to load, so idle noise stays low in a rack row and ramps only under sustained heavy I/O or compute pressure.

Sixteen 2.5-inch bays and room for a second CPU

The front panel holds sixteen small-form-factor SAS bays, with an optional second bay zone that can raise the count to twenty-four. A second processor socket is empty, allowing a future upgrade to thirty-six total cores and up to 3 TB of DDR4 memory when the workload grows. The P440 controller supports 12 Gb and 6 Gb SAS links, so additional drives or external enclosures attach without a controller swap. No operating system is included.
