Purpose-built 16-bay 2U rack server

The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server equipped with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 twelve-core processor at 2.3GHz and 4GB of DDR4 memory. It targets IT teams that need dense 2.5-inch drive capacity in a standard rack footprint for virtualisation, database or storage workloads. The chassis supports up to two processors and 24 DIMM slots for future expansion.

Redundant power and hardware RAID controller

Dual 500W hot-swap power supplies provide N+1 redundancy for continuous operation. The Smart Array P440 controller with 4GB flash-backed write cache manages up to 16 small-form-factor bays and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for data protection and performance tuning. Sixteen drive trays with screws are included; drives are not installed.

Expands from minimal memory and single CPU

The shipping configuration includes only 4GB of RAM and one processor, so production deployments will require additional memory modules and optionally a second Xeon to reach the platform’s 36-core and 3TB memory ceiling. Buyers who need drives, an operating system or maximum core counts out of the box should plan for those additions before deployment.
