The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2643 v3 six-core processor running at 3.4 GHz. It ships with 4 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and a Smart Array P440 controller backed by 4 GB flash-backed write cache. Redundant 500 W hot-swap power supplies keep the platform running during a module failure.

24-bay SAS storage with RAID headroom

Twenty-four 2.5-inch small-form-factor bays accept 12 Gb/s or 6 Gb/s SAS drives; two 146 GB 15 K RPM drives are installed. The P440 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, so the array can survive multiple drive losses. Memory capacity stops at 4 GB unless additional DDR4 modules are added to the 24 available DIMM slots.

FBWC and redundant power change uptime

The 4 GB flash-backed write cache preserves in-flight data during a power loss, removing the battery-replacement cycle of older BBWC units. Dual 500 W supplies let you pull one unit for maintenance without a shutdown. No operating system is included, so the installer chooses the hypervisor or OS that matches the workload.
