The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2609 v3 six-core processor at 1.9 GHz with 8 GB of DDR4 ECC memory. It targets buyers who need a dense, redundant platform for virtualisation, file serving or light database tasks. The chassis supports a second processor for future growth.

Twelve 3.5-inch SAS bays with redundant power

Twelve large-form-factor drive bays accept SAS or SATA drives and ship with two 4 TB 7.2 K SAS disks on an H240ar controller that handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Dual hot-swap 500 W supplies keep the system running during a power-module failure. Rear cages can add more drives but consume a riser slot.

No operating system and Matrox graphics only

The server arrives without an OS, so the buyer must supply licences and installation media. Integrated Matrox G200eH2 graphics provide basic console output but cannot accelerate compute workloads. Twenty-four DIMM slots allow expansion to much larger memory configurations when additional processors are fitted.
