The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 is a 2U rack server supplied new with one Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4 GHz. It includes 128 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed across 24 DIMM slots and two 146 GB 15K SAS drives. The Smart Array P440 controller with 4 GB FBWC supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 and dual redundant 500 W hot-swap power supplies are fitted. No operating system is included.

Suited for memory-heavy virtualization

This configuration suits environments that need high core counts and large memory capacity in a dense 2U form factor with hardware RAID and redundant power. Buyers who require dual processors installed, more than two drive bays populated, solid-state drives, or a GPU for compute acceleration will need additional components. The single-socket layout limits maximum memory to 128 GB and total cores to eight physical, sixteen logical threads.

128 GB DDR4 at the 24-slot limit

The installed 128 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory fills the maximum capacity supported by the single processor, using all 24 DIMM slots at up to 2400 MT/s. Adding a second processor would be required to exceed this memory ceiling or to reach the platform maximum of 3 TB.
