This 2U rack server ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 twelve-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and 48 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. It targets organisations that need dense compute in a standard rack footprint for virtualisation, database or general-purpose workloads. The chassis includes eight 2.5-inch small-form-factor drive bays and an H240ar storage controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. No operating system is installed.

Compatibility checks before ordering

Verify that your rack provides 2U of vertical space and that the power distribution units can supply two redundant 500 W hot-swap supplies. Confirm the H240ar controller matches your SAS or SATA drive fleet; the board supports 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA links. Memory expansion uses 24 DDR4 DIMM slots, twelve per processor, with speeds up to 2400 MT/s dependent on the installed CPU. A second processor can be added to reach the 36-core maximum.

Thermals noise and power

Dual redundant 500 W power supplies share the load, so typical draw stays well within the rated capacity of each unit. The 2U form factor uses high-flow fans that ramp with inlet temperature; expect audible airflow in a quiet office but normal levels for a data-centre aisle. The Matrox G200eH2 graphics chip with 16 MB video memory adds negligible heat. Redundant supplies and hot-swap fans allow component replacement without shutting down the server.
