It targets data-centre hosts running virtualised workloads, high-performance computing clusters or unified storage fabrics that need more I/O bandwidth than 1 GbE links can provide.

Low-profile PCIe 2.0 x8 installation

The card fits a standard PCI Express 2.0 x8 slot and ships with a low-profile bracket for slim chassis. Drivers are supplied by Intel for Windows, Linux, VMware ESXi and FreeBSD.
