4U 12-bay rackmount chassis

The iStarUSA D410-DE12BL is a 4U rackmount server chassis built to hold twelve hot-swap 3.5-inch drives. It supports ATX, E-ATX and Micro ATX motherboards and includes seven expansion slots for add-in cards. The zinc-coated steel frame is finished in blue and provides front-panel power and HDD LEDs plus a USB 2.0 port for local access.

Trayless drive installation and cooling

Drives slide directly into the front bays without separate trays, which speeds up swaps but requires careful alignment to avoid bent connector pins. Two 120mm fans mounted on the side panels pull air across the drive array; cable routing in a fully populated chassis can restrict that airflow if not managed. The chassis accepts a PS2 mini redundant power supply, though the supply itself is not included.

SAS and SATA 6.0 Gb/s interface limits

The backplane supports SAS and SATA drives at up to 6.0 Gb/s, so each bay tops out at that throughput regardless of the drive’s rated speed. Twelve drives sharing the backplane can saturate a single controller link during heavy simultaneous access. The front USB 2.0 port is limited to 2.0 speeds and is not suitable for high-bandwidth peripherals.
